ANST - Interesting site... and poignant, too

Agreed that some of the costumes should be toned down some. When I was
at the Ren Fest, all 8 weekends, there were very few costumes I saw that
did not look authentic. Head covering or period hair was followed,
watches were put away, but not left at home. Mine was in a black pouch.
The word re-enact means to ACT re-create means to LIVE it. I go to
events to have fun. I do not go to re-create it SO exactly that being
involved is something miserable to do. This guy can sleep in the mud at
night all he wants to. I prefer to have an air mattress and a fouton
padding on it, to lay down on after the days events. The life of a REAL
mid-evil person was MISERABLE...even the royalty, compared to what we
are used to. We are NOT mid-evil people, we just act and look that way,
for our enjoyment and that of onlookers. If I had to not shower for a
couple weeks and smear dirt and mud all over myself before an event, to
be "Authentic." well, I wouldnt be doing this very long. This guy is a
total hypocrit; if he and his organization as SO authentic and period,
why isin't he down in Galveston Bay, on a wooden ship, shouting his
beefs through a hand made megaphone? No,...he is using a global computer
network to tell everyone how "period" they are.
