The Barony of Stargate gives out feast baskets to newcomers at their first event.  We have a fabulous hospitaler, Lady Ciarnat, who coordinates putting the baskets together.

I seem to remember someone that gave out feast starter kits to newcomers. I
thought that was really cool. If you have someone who is really good at
trolling the deals at Goodwill and St. Vincent, that would be a good way to
go.
