Just an aside for those who are really, seriously interested in the concept of marketing and the SCA...

Last November (2009), the SCA Inc. appointed a new Deputy to the Society Seneschal, the Marketing Coordinator: Sir Brand deux Leons (GregRobin Smith) email: ben at ben-franklin.org

He spoke at length with the Grand Council, shared his ideas on what this position means for the SCA and asked for serious input and feedback. The archives from those discussions (starting in Nov. '09) are pretty interesting, assuming you are interested in marketing to start with. :) 
I believe Sir Brand's primary focus was fundraising, but he left plenty of room for other marketing ideas too. (Note: the GC archives and the GC list are open to anyone, but you do have to sign up to gain access). 

So... those who feel strongly that the SCA is not effectively marketing itself to the non-SCA community... you do have an official SCA officer-type-person to send your ideas to (or at least include in the chain when you're sending them to corporate).
