The Rhoadd/Ffynnon Gath much-loved game with Flossie evolved out of the Saracen head game.  Way back when - It was played in the Kingdom of the Outlands.  About 25 years ago Master Cadwallader (RIP) of Tre Loc used to decorate a head and play the game at Western Region events. So the game has been around in some form or another for a long time.  Mistress Regina says that she remembers it being documented but it was played on horse back.
