Ditaxis heterantha Zucc. (azafrán de bolita), a plant of the
Euphorbiaceae family, grows wild in the semiarid regions of Mexico. Its
seeds are used by the inhabitants of the regions where it grows to give
color and to enhance the flavor of food.
