<p class=MsoNormal> I want to reinforce some of the message that has
gotten out, and direct people in the right direction. Please remember that what
you see and hear on the news is the sensational and blown out of proportion aspects
of the storm. It is quite boring to report on the areas that are not severally damaged
or impacted by the storm.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal> As we all know, there are many people in the SCA that
are chomping at the bit to help out those affected. To make sure that this is
coordinated correctly we have a coastal regional volunteer who will be
coordinating proper direction of relief efforts. Sir Simonn and Mistress Tessa
(<a href="mailto:tessa@gt.rr.com">tessa@gt.rr.com</a>) originally started
coordinating this for their local group for Gustav and it sort of snowballed
into a continuation for the entire region for Ike.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal> If you have any damage or know of someone that will
need outside assistance, please contact Sir Simonn and Mistress Tessa.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal> In the end we want the right amount of assistance, in
the right form, at the right time.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal> A lot of what I’ve been hearing from those who
stayed in the area is that damage is mostly in the form of power outages, down
trees and damage to outside yard items such as fences and an occasional window.
I’ve not heard of any major damage to houses or water damage inside of
houses for our people, but not everyone has checked in.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal> Now that being said, there are a lot of our people
who evacuated the high risk areas near the coast or in low lying areas. These
people will not know the extent of damage to their property possibly for a
couple more days. Some areas are being closed by the authorities, and even
Houston is under a nighttime curfew to assist in relief efforts and minimize opportunistic
activities.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal> If we find that the extent of damage is worse than
initial reports, we will want to also get organized within the large groups or
regional level.<o:p></o:p></p>
