Here's the scoop on the Tuchux/Vlad story and this is the one I heard as
well, I believe it's the right one, as this guy was there:

>
> Well, the reason this guy wrote to me is because I wanted some fair talk
>on the Tuchux - for those not in the know, here's the synopsis (Rialto is
>chock-full of nothing else, and then some...sigh):
>
> There this guy - Vlad - from the Middle Kingdom. He went to Pennsic with
>a broken foot, and spent a week limping around site (remember that, it
>counts later). He gets wound up easy. He has a very strong wife, who is a
>Baroness, who doesn't take a lot of crap, and apparently has a very
>wrathful temper.
>
> Vlad and his guys don't get on well with the Tuchux. Good move No 1.
>
> The organisers put Vlad's camp next to Tuchux Hill. Good move No. 2.

> Vlad, late in the Pennsic week, has a giant argument with his wife on
>the roadside near his camp. Looking on are a few landed peers of their
>area, who haven't intervened because it's none of their business.
> The lady in question storms off in order to avoid puching Vlad in anger.
>She trips on her hem, and falls heavily. Dusty, a newbie Tuchux guy
>(apparently quite mellow normally) sees this, and thinks that Vlad was
>beating his woman.
> He goes over, and says "Stop beating your wench !"
> Vlad says "F**K off and mind your own business !" (He was in the middle
>of an argument, remember) The lady is 15 feet away, trips again, and Vlad
>limps towards her to help. Dusty clocks him with his rattan stick, full in
>the head, thinking he's defending the lady, even tho' she was 15 ft. away.
> Three guys from Vlad's camp run over and start beating the snot out of
>Dusty.
>
> It stops.
> The police are informed, and Dusty is checked out as OK in hospital, and
>comes back.
> Later the Coopers (the campground owners) throw the entire Tuchux camp
>off, and Vlad's as well. Everybody - not one clan, not one household. All
>of Vlad's, and all of the 'Chux.
> They all go home, not before the Chux spend the entire night drumming
>loudly and burning all of the things they built as camp structures in a big
>bonfire. Not many people are happy.
> Perhaps Dusty will be charged, perhaps not, but at the moment Rialto has
>degenerated into a session of telling us all why the Tuchux don't belong,
>unprecedented numbers of the Chux are online defending their guy, saying
>that anyway, they were on Pennsic's site first, long before the SCA.
> Below are rough approximations of the best two points I've read on the
>Rialto, and after that, *let's not* choke Lochac with the gunk one has to
>filter through to read Rialto.

>and big sneakers to our football game and shooting hoops on the touchdown
>line."
>
> (and from the Tuchux)
>
> "We are the enemy that's cements your forces. The old SCA leaders knew
>this, and that's why we were made welcome. We are alive, you are staid and
>boring."
