This is totally acceptable!!!!!  No one is expecting a term paper or major
thesis on their work.  All I want to see is a description of the item as used
in period, how the individual put it together and if any changes were
made---why.  For example, if you are doing a dress and the material used
would have been silk but you used a synthetic fiber--state why.  This way the
judges are aware you know what was used in period.  And yes, the more sources
for you documentation the better.  Its always best to cross check you
information.  Don't forget, you can ask any of the experienced artisans
pointers on documentation.  All of us are here to help!
