Shinai in Ansteorra

As a Minister of Arts & Sciences - I would like to nip in the bud the
thought of Martial ARTS being placed under this office. Shinai is a
combative recreation.
I would like to reiterate that we are trying to recreate Western
Europe - I have yet to find a reference to a Shogun fighting in
Britain, Wales, Germany, etc...
On another note... I have participated in Shinai fighting in another
kingdom - it was fun and had minimum armoring requirements. But I
would not like to see it offered at an SCA event.

Well the problem with judo is that it is out of period. Shaolin Kung-fu
should be acceptable as well as several of the early wu shu styles.

I think mixing SCA heavy combat and modern adaptations of period fighting
styles would be a very bad idea, too many variables. However I cannot see
why A Martial ART could not be nadled under the Minister of ARTS and
sciences..

Hell most of the lunks in spurs we got running around here don't aproximate
a medieval model in clothing, style and especially attitude.
