Greetings from Lady Zahra Zena.

I understand your feelings about having your performance judged. Many of us
have faced similar problems concerning judged competitions. But, I would
like you consider the fact that some of our stick jocks are not simply brawn
with no brains or knowledge of music. If you inquired, you might be
surprised at the range of talent within the ranks of the fighters.

> I was worried about the

Again, Kein, not all non-fighter are brain with no brawn. Some have fought
in the past and no longer are able to.
> The advice that I gave at that time to any judge who was judging something

This is the best course of action. Only truly ignorant people are afraid to
admit a lack of knowledge and ask for help.

> I did judge those competitions but I did so with my friend and adviser
Master Cynric at my elbow.
That is what I construe to be the real function of a Court Baron/Baroness.

>It is the nature of our Society that royalty and nobility are often asked to
>perform functions that they are not really qualified to do. Good
>nobility or royalty will seek advice before proceeding.

Even those who are not of royal or nobile station are often asked to
function at a level they have no ability to work at. This is often what
drives us in the SCA to learn. It forces us to educate ourselves or to seek
advice from those better educated/more experienced.

(Sarcasm alert):)
My suggestion to Kein and to Samuel is to have a combination music and
judged fighting tournament, with a concert in the evening. The fighters can
judge the musicians and the musicians can judge the fighters!!!
(alert over)

In all reality, we do not have a perfect society. If you want something to
change, then *do* something about it. Like have an event or start a group
that you run the way **YOU** want it to be run. Leaving an organization
because you don't agree with how someone runs an event is childish (I don't
like this game, so I'm not going to play with you ever again...Nyeh-nyeh,
Nyeh-Nyeh boo boo..whine,\..whine...etc.)

That in itself is the challenge.
