The Shire of Northkeep invites you to come join us at our annual
WinterKingdom Arts and Sciences Collegium on January 26-28, 1996. 
The site is the Will Rogers Boy Scout Camp in Cleveland, OK. 
Site opens at 4pm Friday and closes 4pm Sunday.  Crash space can
be arranged for those who want to stay in city comfort, and
camping is available for the more intrepid; a limited number of
cabins is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Site fee: $7 adult, $3 children 6-to-12, under 6 free, $25 family
maximum site fee.  Due to the generosity of the populace of
Northkeep, the non-member surcharge will not be levied.  Make
checks payable to: SCA, Shire of Northkeep.  Minors must have
signed waiver.

Lady Livia Madeline Montgomery is preparing an excellent feast. 
Fee: $7 adult, $3 children 6-to-12, under 6 free.  The menu is:

CHIP CARVING IN WOOD - Mistress Talana - Simple-to-learn period
technique for carving linear designs to really spiff up boxes,
plates, anything made of wood. 1 hour.
INKLEWEAVING - Lady Fiona - How to warp a loom, weave, and
different patterns.  1 hour.
BEGINNING DYEING - Mistress Coustance - Home dyeing that you can
do on your stovetop without buying special equipment. 2 hours.

FROM IDEA TO GARMENT - Baroness Margarite du Battenhelm - This
class will cover research, pattern adaptation, color and fabric
selection, and sewing tips.  1 hour.
PERIOD SHOEMAKING - Diarmait Ua Dhuinn - How to measure the foot,
construct a basic pattern, and adapt it to desired shoe style;
materials, stitches, cutting techniques. 2 hours.  Free handout
with dozens of styles, history, and how-to's.
PERIOD BOOKBINDING - H.L. Leonitis - Discussion and display of
in-progress books, techniques, and materials.  2 hours.  $1.00
for handout.
BRASS ETCHING - Lady Terese Maria Giovanni (Calontir) - Students
will make an acid-etched medallion of Ansteorra regalia to give
to the Crown. 2 hours. 50 cents for handout.
MIDDLE EASTERN COOKING - H.L. Sacra - Class will prepare several
delicious and simple dishes.  2 hours.

BOW MAKING - Master Tagan the Taylesmythe (Atenveldt) - Basics of
manufacturing wooden bows. 1 hour.
HERALDIC WHO'S WHO - Lord Archibald Winterborn - A class
newcomers should not miss!  Lord Archibald explains all those
ribbons, belts, danglies, and metal head-thingies you run into in
Ansteorra. 1 hour.
BEGINNING SPINNING - Lady Ariella - A class for adults and
children for getting started with drop spinning. 1 hour.

ANSTEORRAN TREASURER'S CLASS - Lord William Fitzbubba (Northern
Regional Treasurer) - Required class for local Treasurers and
Seneschals.  3 hours.
ARROW MAKING - Master Michael Fenwick - Hands-on production of
modern arrows and discussion of making period arrows.  2 hours. 
$2.00 fee for supplies.  Class size limited to 12.
WINE MAKING - Lord Damon Borrehdahl - Lord Damon (an avid vintner
with a very impressive cellar full of his own making) will
discuss how to get started in wine making, the equipment,
ingredients, and techniques. 1 hour.
MAKING CORONETS - Master Thorkill Sigurdson (Calontir) -
Introduction to flat metal-working techniques: piecework,
chasing, soldering, etching, texturing, bezels, patterns, layout,
and construction of crowns, coronets, and medallions. 2 hours.
PAVILION MAKING - H.L. Marke von Mainz - History of tentage and
sunshades, patterns, construction techniques, some hands on work.
2 hours.  50 cents for handout.  Class size limited to 20.
FIBERS - Lady Debroa bat Josef - Covers the different kinds of
fibers available for spinning and weaving, how they handle
differently, and their special properties and uses.  1 hour.
CONFECTIONARY - Mistress Coustance - Candymaking! 2 hours.

APPLIQUE FOR THE SEWING MACHINE - Mistress Caitrin ferch Gwyllim
- How to use fusible web and zig-zag stitch to make great-looking
but easy applique for clothes, banners, tablecloths, you name it! 
1 hour.
MEDIEVAL POETIC FORMS - Lord Robert Fitzmorgan - Will cover some
of the more popular period styles, where they developed, and
their history. 1 hour.

PERIOD TOOLMAKING - H.L. Leonitis - Covers the basic toolmaking
techniques by which period carpentry tools were made.  If you do
woodworking, don't miss it! 1 hour.
MAKING SWEPT HILTS - Lord Timothy la Courvoisier (Calontir) - How
to form a rapier swept hilt in brass; will involve some welding
techniques.  2 hours.
POTTERY: PERIOD TECHNIQUES - H.L. Cairenn - How pottery was made,
how it was glazed and why we do it differently now, how to build
a kiln in your backyard.  Students will make a small pot.  1
hour.  $1.00 for handout.
EMBROIDERY FOR FIGHTERS - Lady Emer ni Maille - Basic embroidery
stitches for those who've never tried embroidery before.  Not
only fighters, but even young boys have taken this class and
liked it!
1 hour.
STORYTELLING - Master Tagan the Talesmythe - One of the greatest
storytellers in the SCA teaches how he does what he does. 1 hour.

DOG-ROBBING FOR FUN AND PROFIT OR, THE SCA ON A SHOESTRING - Lord
Ragnar of Rangarsrock - How to live well in the Current Middle
Ages without going broke mundanely.  1 hour.
WHO KILLED KIT MARLOWE? - Don Juan Wang - Murder, mystery and
mayhem in Elizabeth's England.  Poet, playwright, and swordsman
Christopher Marlowe is brutally murdered at 29; therein lies a
true and lurid tale that delves into politics, intrigue, and
espionage, reaching to the highest seats of power.
