  KNOWN WORLD DANCE SYMPOSIUM
 
 January 30-February2nd 1997
 
 Sponsored by Saltare, the Meridies Kingdom Dance Guild and Hosted by the
Barony of Axemoor , New Orleans Louisiana, with the theme CARNIVAL AT
AXEMOOR.
 
SIXTEEN  INSTRUCTORS AND RESEARCHERS FROM EIGHT DIFFERENT KINGDOMS!
 
This Symposium will include many diverse courses of study for dancers of all
levels of expertise.  There will be classes in English Country Dance, 15th
and 16th Century Italian Renaissance Dance, Court Dances of England and
France, as well as Middle Eastern Dance, and classes for Musicians, Dance
Research, Reconstruction, Choreography, and the Art of Dance Teaching.
 
 DANCE CLASSES TO RUN FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING

The site opens on Thursday evening for folks arriving for Friday activities.
 These activities include for those who want to sightsee a PROFESSIONAL
GUIDED TOUR  of NEW ORLEANS for just $15.  (Send tour questions to
reservation address.)

For those who came to dance and learn on Friday we have a full day of classes
culminating in an exciting CHOREOGRAPHY WORKSHOP- led by MASTER SION ANDREAS
O WYNEDD, MISTRESS ROSINA DEL BOSCO AND MESSER GIUSEPPE FRANCESCO DA BORGIA. 

Friday night the site will play host to the theme SCA FAVORITE DANCES
featuring dances popular throughout the Known World. 

Saturday there will be three classes running simultaneously all day to
prepare for Saturday night's masked ball with a Carnival theme, THE KNOWN
WORLD DANCE SYMPOSIUM GRAND BALL. 

Sunday, will feature a special recreation of a period style ball.  You'll
want to stay and be a part of the CAROSO BALL which COUNTESS MARA TUDORA
KOLAROVA  has graciously agreed to run and features dances from English
Country to Pavans to Italian in a period setting.

 SITE INFORMATION/PRICES
 
 The Known World Dance Symposium will be held at the spacious REGINA COELI
RETREAT CENTER in Covington LA.  There ARE still beds on site which feature
Central Heat and Air.  Also, we have reserved the HOLIDAY INN in Covington
just 6 short miles from site.  Call (504)893-3580 for hotel reservations, and
mention SCA.

 Prices include Feast Saturday night and two breakfasts.  Please deduct $5.00
for off-board. Lunches will be provided as a fundraiser to defray the cost of
this event. Those who will be staying on site Thursday night please add $10.
 Those daytripping for Friday as well please add $7.  Make all checks payable

DIRECTIONS: 
Take best route to Covington La.  On I-12, North of Lake Ponchartrain.  Take
US-190 (but NOT Business-190) through Covington, going over all overpasses.
 At the junction with LA-25, continue straight towards Ralston, LA.

Take first left on LA-25 (look for Regina Coeli and SCA signs.)
