Are these costrels open or do they have a top or stopper?

A Costrel (from the Medieval French Costerel, from Costier or "at
the side") is an earthenware, leather, or wooden container for
carrying liquids, and having "ears" by which it can be carried or
hung from straps. Today we might call them "canteens".
The costrels in questions look like little barrels on their sides,
with a neck coming out of one side.
