The cooking group in Bjornsborg (Bearly Edible) meets once a month, on
the second Monday of the month. Most of us can work our schedules
around a weeknight meeting fairly well. We usually have around 8-12
people and we start the meetings with Sir Emrys and HL Bryanna (who
host the meetings at their house) cover a discussion of a period spice
or two. We'll pass the spice around for people to try and discuss it's
use in period both medicinally as well as in the types of foods, times
and places you would more commonly find such a spice. Darned
interesting.

We then hand out recipes for any of the food that several people would
have brought for everyone to sample and we let them discuss the
process of making the dish as well as any pointers the cook, or anyone
else, may have.

Next we tend to discuss any feasts we have been to recently and what
we liked about them, as well as what we disliked about them. (Our
group is a resource for our event Cooks to check with regarding ways
to run a feast not only from the standpoint of recipes, but also for
presentation.)

Finally we will end the meeting with a few folks volunteering to make
a dish or two for the next meeting.

The stated goals of Bearly Edible are to educate those who wish to
participate in resources for recipes, styles of med./ren. cooking,
techniques for cooking (both period and modern), assisting event Cooks
should they request it, preparing local "feast" events (where we have
a feast revel strictly for the Barony to help keep things small so we
can go all out on making the fest itself a spectacle), and generally
doing what we can to maintain a quality interest in med./ren. cooking.

Best of luck with your group!
