I personally prefer that the taking of squires, apprentices, cadets, etc. not
be done in court.  I think too many people view what is essentially a
personal relationship as some type of award, and taking associates in court
tends to reinforce this impression.

I really like what several of the Laurels have been doing - calling for all
of the Laurels with their apprentices to gather, and exchanging whatever
promises and belting them in the middle of that circle.
