ANST - Drawing a Bow Whilst Wearing a Helm

Sael og Heil, Good Gentles!

Actually, guys, if you make your drawpoint such that the string touches
the tip of your nose and the bottom of your chin without a helmet, you can
use the exact same draw in a helmet without much adjustment to your
technique.

The advantage to such a draw, as my archery instructors patiently drilled
into me, is that it rests your hand under your chin in a spot which, by
virtue of having the string on your nose, can always be reached exactly
every time, which the "under the ear" or "cheekbone" draw points cannot.
People who draw to cheekbone or ear will always have some minute variation
in their draw point, introducing some variation into your aim and results
of each shot.

This is easier to deal with in aiming, too, as you are looking right down
the arrow shaft, rather than viewing it at an angle. I found that my
accuracy improved from 28" clusters to 6" clusters immediately, changing
nothing else, just by using the under the chin/nose touching string drawpoint.

Give this technique a try next time you go shooting for practice. It does
feel a little strange at first, but I found the results worth while.
