The minimum distance that a crossbow can fire on the "emeny" is 15 feet,
long bow recurve is 10 feet. You may yeild any time that you feel that you
may be struck and do not wish to get hit. You may be called dead at 10 feet
if you do not have a personal proctor that is not engaged with an opponent
between you and the person attacking you. The white dimond indicates that
you may not be struck with rattan weapons but you may still be fired on by
missile weapons. You have to be authorize to fight heavy but what you have
to do to get that authorization is between you and the authorizing marshall.
Demonstrate that you are safe on the field know the rules of the list ect. I
am NOT a heavy marshal but would guess that you would have to demonstrate
you are safe with some form of rattan weapon (great sword, glave, sword and
board, single sword, what ever).
On a personal note I would like to see the rules changed to allow for
authorizing as a combat archer period and you have to pass armor inspection
for the style of combat being fought heavy or light, but that is just my wish.
