ANST - curious about archers in war scenarios

The main problem with that is protecting the archers from a determined
attack. They require some form of protetion. Either heaves with / close to
them or some (number to be determined by the archery force) archers to also
carry heavy weapons for defensive reasons.
If you can keep them alive and not have to depleat your other forces sure.
