I've no problem with any of the arrows presently used in SCA combat. I
too have been hit with them all.  Not that big of a deal, really.

The minimal light armor (impenetrable, I  believe the word is) of four
layers of triger or equivalent provides a lot more padding than my
heavy armor. That doesn't speak to the fact that heavy armor covers
the vital areas much better. A 16guage helmet is much more protection
from an arrow than a three weapons mask.  Then there's the gorget, the
kidney belt, etc...
