The question comes down to how to deal with it, and what things *should*
be on the net and what shouldn't. We are now working on that.
Unfortunately Corporate hasn't given us their guidelines so we're in new
territory here that is very controversial.

All too true for some of us. Others it's not so true. *smile*

I'm sorry, but I feel officers should have an USmail address posted, be
it their home address, a volunteer's address or a PO Box. Official
channels are still official channels. We have to communicate through
them. A workaround might be to only post Society names without mundane
names. *shrug*

So because someone might take advantage of us or burn our house down we
should hide? That might happen any day of the week in some places. Making
your friends, neighbors, church, work, etc., know what you do and what
it's about is a great educational tool for stopping this from happening
to you and others. If on the other hand, you pack and run off in quiet,
don't tell them what your doing and why, etc., they have cause to think
you are up to no good.

At this point, it is up to every group to post their own event
information on their own server. If they don't have a site, no one finds
out about it on the net. This only hurts the groups by not encouraging
attendance to their events. Those groups who are borderline have even
greater need of population growth, IMHO.

I'm sorry, but common sense isn't very common. Common sense tells me
that if I am in fear for my life, not to publish my address/phone number
*anywhere*, even in a limited circulation. Common sense tells me that
officers of a group need to have their information published for people
to contact them. Common sense tells me that growth within a group is
good, and stagnation is bad. This isn't your or other folks' common
sense though.

But how does not publishing information on the net stop this? As you
pointed out, the bad apples are already among us so why not try to
gather more good apples?

We can't help that unless we are willing to stop those people who do
wrong against us. We don't do this by hiding our faces from the net. For
a society that prides itself on honor, there are a lot of dishonorable
and intolerable things being overlooked and ignored by those who are
supposed to be more "honorable".
