During the Investiture of the new King, Masters do not swear fealty but in
the past, I have seen Dukes Lloyd and Jonathon both toast the Crown.  If my
memory serves me the also tell the Crown that they do not swear any oath to
the Crown but that they offer their services.  (Something like that)
Basically they acknowledge the Crown somehow.  I know of several knights
who used to not swear fealty to a Crown if they felt that they could not
work with that particular Crown... then they wore their Chain in their belt
for that reign.  I don't think that it's a popular concept though.....
