I have been in the SCA for almost 9 years and recently moved from
Stargate where I new everyone to Steppes where I don't know anyone. I
went to a few meetings and tried to get involved but didn't have a lot
of luck. Not that everyone wasn't nice, but I can't say that anyone
made a great deal of effort to include me in conversations. If I came
up to them, they would talk to me but otherwise....As a former
hospitaler I can tell you that people who move in to your areas are a
great source. They already know the basics I just need to feel
welcomed.

I now end up driving out to Black Oak Keep to play. I have found
smaller groups tend to be more appreciative of people whether they are
new or not.
