There was a tradition Kingdom wide for a while that the Seneschal was given
a key. The Senechal then wore it at events. When the Seneschal stepped
down they would pass the key on to their successor. Some of the groups got
quite elaborate and one key was actually had a bottle opener stuck in the
shaft. (Very handy that). Sometimes you were given extra keys as a thank
you which you could keep as a souvenir. I still have one given to me
somewhere.

I thought it was a nice tradition since an officer is done voluntarily,
often with no thank yous or rewards at the end. Some officers work very
hard while others coast and carrying a symbol of your responsibilites
sometimes made you try harder. A little pomp and circumstance never hurts.

So, Angus, are you going to start wearing a tiny keyboard or perhaps a
little mouse.... *wink*
