Made to Swear Fealty

Galen of Bristol here!

I'm going to mention one aspect of fealty. Someone mentioned the idea of a
knight being required to swear fealty at each Coronation, giving the
impression
that she would loathe to face such a requirement, as that would force her to
swear to some whom whe might not hold in high regard.

If someone for whom I lack respect or trust should take the throne, I will
make a
particular point to publically swear fealty during that reign. Knights are
in fealty
anyway, whether we renew the oath or not. But the fealty contract is a
two-way
street.  It provides rights and protections for me, as well as obligations;
a king
I don't trust is a king I especially want to establish my obligation to.
 Because
then he'll be likewise obligated to me.
