I love these books.. Costain is entertaining and thoroughly readable;
however, he is highly opinionated and sometimes incorrect.  If you keep
this in mine and keep in mine that fact that he wrote during a period of
modern history when this is what was desired, you'll do fine..... He also
writes great fiction, like the Black Rose and others.   I consider these a
must read just because of the entertainment value.
