Whoo HA HA

Well said and about time! I was first interested in SCA probably 10
years ago. I was a lurker at fighter practice for three in BG. One year ago
I became a newbie and joined in. It was Chuck who first talked to me. I had
asked several people about info but was not made to feel entirely welcome
with my questions - the hospitaler will be here later! Yeah right. Yes I
know the excuse that it so busy and we don't know a newbie - horse feathers
- after a few meetings even I could pick out a newbie!! Chuck approached me
as a newbie - he had been there for a year and a half, it wasn't one of the
old guard, and he was fighting that night - even the best of fighters take
a brake. He answered my questions in a positive and open manner.
It was my pleasure to meet Gnith a few nights latter and discovered
a common interest in seige engines. He also has made me feel welcome and
answered numerous questions.
I thank folks like these for being open and inviting. I have
honestly had someone passing out flyers walk past me and hand paperwork to
someone behind me. I wondered if this was some personal party or a private
gathering - no just the directions to the upcoming event!! Imagine my
surprise.
There are several people I would like to thank for the welcome,
Deiter, Jovan:), Sir Lyonel Š they have all been a great help.
I try to help(talk) to newbies at every fighter practice. I
remember how rough it was that first (K)night.
        Thanks all.

>For the last two weeks, Chuck (another two-year fighter) and I have spent

>even ate barbecue.

Mr. Ed
"Newbie Without a Name"

Who does i' the wars more than his captain can
Becomes his captain's captain; and ambition,
The soldier's virtue, rather makes choice of loss,
        Than gain which darkens him.
William Shakespeare
Antony and Cleopatra
Act iii. Sc. 1.
