If the kingdom routinely had its equivalents of the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle or
the Annals of Fulda, then you might be right.  But do you honestly think
that local officer reports (which are what the vast majority of written
records in the SCA are) tie us securely in any sense to the kingdom's past?
