It may not come up in discussion much in the circles I have attended, but
I, personally, consider all of the above when I ask myself, "Does this
person exhibit the personal qualities I want to see in a Peer of the
Realm?" I won't point out specifically that person X doesn't know (for
instance) gaming, but if the person is too deficient in the general "peer
qualities," I can usually get my point across to the rest of the circle.
But by the time one has attained the "exceptional service" of a Pelican,
the person is pretty familiar with the personal attributes of a Peer.

Realise that this is my Pelican-centric view of people, since I don't sit
on the other circles. Knights, do you have a comment? Laurels?
