I think many of us from the Northern Region, especially those of us
who couldn't be at the war, would like to thank Talen, as well. When
this command position was given to him, he didn't back away from
the responsibility. Many times, he was told what was needed or
expected of him at the very last minute, yet he came through every
time. His dedication and effort truly went beyond the call of duty.
It is a fact that many wish to lead and give commands during battle,
however, few are willing to pay the price before the war is fought.
I'd especially like to congratulate those who fought in Ansteorra's
Northern Army. From all the stories I've heard, they set a fine
example of unity and organization. During several war practices, I
saw our most experienced and best fighters following orders and
doing whatever was needed to teach those who had less experience.
In a kingdom where recognition is most often given to flashy,
independent, cavalry fighters, this is an invaluable sacrifice.
It is obvious that, although the battles were lost, the time and
effort spent kingdom-wide to prepare was worthwhile. Although I've
already heard many accounts of our Kingdom's great deeds, I would
really like to hear more. What fantastic works of art were entered
(I hear Ansteorra's artisans truly outdid themselves this year)? How
did the siege weapons work? What kind of parties were there?
Who did what in the champions' battles and the scenarios? Who worked
as volunteers? etc....
I know, that's a lot of stuff to tell. Maybe just a few brief,
condensed versions would be ok, til some enthusiastic bard could find
time to write that great epic....

p.s. Lots of people have been asking about our mundane wedding
date (Barn's and mine). It is May 10 at 7:00pm, at a church
in downtown Oklahoma City. And, yes, he really did say that
all our friends were welcome when he announced it at Northern
Regional. We won't be sending invitations to everyone due to
time and $ restrictions. But if you'd like to come, just drop
me a line or call (405-799-6980) so we'll have some idea how
many to plan for (and so you can find out how to find it).
