The Court of the Oak-Lord
21 - 23 November 1997
The first century A.D. A time of Irish heroes. The chieftain of the
Oak-People does invite all to his lands to attend a grand festival and
gathering to celebrate the harvest's end as winter's chill approaches.
Being at peace with his neighbors, all borders are open and great games
will be held:
Archers, axemen, and spearmen are invited to compete with their skills
Feats of endurance will select champions to claim the hero's portion
during a feast to celebrate the harvest's end
Bards are summoned to beguile the populace with tales of the heroes of
old
Artisans will be welcomed and encouraged to attract the attention of
nobles with their skills and crafts
Merchants are invited to sell their wares to fit the people's needs
before winter closes the land

The Barony of the Steppes Court of the Oak Lord is being held November
21-23,1997 at Boy Scouts of America, Camp Leonard in Grardbury, The
site opens at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and closes at noon on Sunday.
Games will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday morning. A list field will be
available for
challenge fights only. There will be no formal list.
The Feast Saturday evening is being prepared by Lady Rhian Muirgael,
and is included in the site fee. No reservation is required. Bring your
own seating and coffee tables. The tradition is to sit on the floor and
eat off of low level tables. The Hall is large and beautiful with a
fire place at one end for the Bardic.
There will be a Bardic competition for the best Celtic story sponsored
by Mistress Penelope Stoddard. Other Bardic performances are welcome.
There will be space allotted during the day, Saturday, for an Art &
Sciences display in the hall. Peers and Nobles are encouraged to
dispense largess as they will.
Ground fires will be allowed, weather permitting. Please supply your
own wood.
Merchants are welcome!
Site fee: $5.00, for adults, $2.00 children 4 to 12. family fee cap of
$15.00

Directions: take your best route to I-20 in Fort Worth, west of I-35.
Take Hwy. 377 South to Grandbury. Turn left of Hwy. 4 (at the Heritage
National Bank). Camp Leonard is approximately one mile on the right.
