Alas, knowing our local newspaper - Wichita Falls (Texas) Times Record News,
it would do no good to attempt to educate them in the proper name, "Society
for Creative ANACHRONISM"... This IS the same paper that publicly proclaimed
that the movie "Godzilla" was about 'a giant ape falling in love with a
human'. When I contacted the Times Record News office by phone to inform
them of the mistake, I was first told that the information was correct and
the TRN stood by the writer of the article. After Emailing the EDITOR a
'Letter to the Editor' showing that an error HAD been made, the EDITOR
personally replied, saying "Thanks for the submission. We will get it in as
a letter asap". That was on Friday, 10 October '97 - today is Saturday, 29
November '97, and STILL no printing of my 'Letter to the Editor', no
correction, or ANYTHING admitting that a mistake was made!

Besides, I am sure it was an 'honest' mistake. Picture this scene, if you
will: Several reporters sitting at the office, with coffee and donuts...

One reporter says, "Hey, this picture of the weirdoes in the park beating on
each other with sticks.. What was the name of their group?".

Another reporter says, "Hmmmmmm..... they said something about the SCA...
Society for Creative.... ummmm....starts with an 'A'.... uhhhhhh.... Oh
well, I can't remember!".

Yet another reporter replies, "Yeah, I know what you mean, ALL those
ACRONYMS sound alike to me.....SCA, CIA, SPCA...".

At which point in time ,the first reporter jumps up with glee and yells,
"THAT'S IT! The Society for Creative ACRONYMS!!!!! Thanks, guys!".

Thus is born another urban legend, and substantiated by a respected,
PROFESSIONAL newspaper?? Stay tuned for the latest news, with pictures, of
"Godzilla" climbing the Empire State Building with 'Baby Bop' clutched
gently to his scaly chest...while being chased by people wearing armor
brandishing swords, who are members of the 'Society for Creative ACRONYMS'!
