Greetings from Lord Alexis LaBouche:

I would like to extend a welcome to all good gentles to attend this
year's Tourney by the Loch. This weekend October, 10-12, we will be
hosting the regions finest rapier fighters in a celebration of the
impending wedding of Phillip II, King of Spain, to Elizabeth Valois of
France. All rapier masters are asked to send their finest teams of
five
to compete for honor and glory in a tournament to commemorate the
 wedding.

Tournament- Shall consist of five man teams, each representing a
fencing
master or school of the period. Teams with documentation shall receive
additional points. Scenarios shall include open field, bridge, city
square, the ever popular three way dash for the treasure chest, and of
course the grand melee. In order to keep the fighting enjoyable we
would ask that there be no more than one white scarf per team.
Additional points shall be awarded for each non-scarf who survives the
 encounters.

Other competitions- Cooks of the realm dig out your utensils to
prepare
your best creation in the category of Spanish Tapas (appetizers).
Artizans enter your best Spanish Garb or any creation fit for the royal
wedding in the style of 1500's Europe. For those joining us at the
campsite on Friday night, the Loch will provide a hearty vegetable soup
and would ask that you bring your favorite 'go-togethers'.

Children's Activities- Will include Building Spanish Sailing Ships,
Armada Races, a nature walk and a scavenger hunt.

The Site- Nestled in the forest, 18 miles NE of Houston, in New Caney,
at beautiful Lake Houston State Park. The campsite has centrally
located water and dishwashing areas (with sinks) privies, grills, fire
pits and picnic tables. Hot showers are also available (though the
fighters preferred a nice dip in the clear waters of Peach Creek last
time!) Site opens at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10th, and closes
2:00
 p.m. Sunday, October 12th. Site fee is $6.00/$2.00 adults/children
 under 12.

The Feast- Authentic Spanish dishes served over four removes (prepared
in a real kitchen- no charcoal food!) Feast is limited to 125, so
please reserve. Cost $5.00/$3.00 adults/children under 12. (personal
endorsement- Loch feasts are always the finest!)

Directions- 59 North of Houston to New Caney exit (FM 1485) go east
(road jogs south) then 2 miles to Baptist Encampment Road. Turn South
for 1.5 miles to the park entrance.
