ANST - Overlooked & Overworked at A&S

Greetings all from Mari!

I've been following this topic with interest. Both entrants and judges
have valid points, and a possible remedy leapt into my head.

In "olden times" when balls and cotillions were the primary social outings
for young people of good family, there was generally an older person, a
chaperone-organizer of some type, who went around checking everyone's
dance cards to make sure that 1) everyone was getting to dance, 2)
particular partners weren't being monopolized by other particular
partners, 3) the wallflowers were being coaxed out of their shells.

What if a position like this was created for larger A&S displays and
competitions? This person could help assure that all entrants had
commentary, that comment sheets were signed, that appropriate judges were
matched up to appropriate displays, even that the judges took a few breaks
now and again.

Really, the only requirements for the poisition would be that the person
had good people skills, had some familiarity with the A&S community, and
wasn't afraid to hunt down Laurels and peers and other artisans and tag
them to check out certain displays. Obviously, this person would have to
be very organized. (Like a pelican type person?)

What do yall think of this? Maybe it would work?

Mari
