Don Doré asked:
>Just out of curiosity, why is the Texas Medieval Association based in
>Georgia?

It is not based out of Georgia. The person handling memberships happens to
be working at a Georgia university at the moment. You have to remember
that an academician may get elected to a post like this then move to a
teaching post at another university before their term of office is done.

Here's the current slate of officers:
Texas Medieval Association Officers for 1996-1997
President - Mark Allen, University of Texas at San Antonio
Vice President - Richard King, Midwestern University
2nd Vice President - Judith Laird, Southwest Texas State University
Secretary/Treasurer - Donald Kagay, Albany State College
Newsletter Editor - Kara Cozby, University of Texas at Dallas
Webmaster - Edwin Duncan, Towson State University

Board of Directors:
     Bonnie Wheeler, Southern Methodist University
     Edwin Duncan, Towson State University
     Jean Truax, University of Houston

But reading the TEMA bylaws, there is nothing which says that you have to
be in, around, on, or from Texas to be a member. The requirements of
tenure and academic careers being what they are, I would be very surprised
if there were NOT a number of members and particpants from outside of Texas
participating in TEMA events.
