ANST - Traveling INN

Hi there...

Having worked as a chef for several years... I am willing to bet that being
a food vendor would "officially" require a food service permit from the
local authorities. This would differ by jurisdiction. I should also state
that I've never heard of any SCA events being crashed by the local health
authorities. Worst they could prob do is fine + closing the place.

Should the events worry about...

State or local regs? probably not

Food handling safety? depends

It depends on several factors, but the safety of a vendor can be determined
by a few "biggies"... 1. Are the vendor and area generally clean? 2. Does
the food smell wholesome (raw and cooked)? 3. Do you see some form of
cooling for foods which need to be cooled? and 4. Is hot food kept hot?

Sorry to be preachy,

One more thought occurs to me about selling food at SCA
events: are there any state regs taverns should be worried
about? For that matter, should our events be worried?
