I'd take the "depends" out and give a definite "yes!".
Food handling should always be done carefully, whether for an individual
dinner or a large feast.  It's mostly a matter of creating good habits and
keeping them practiced.
In any case, just throwing my two pence in (and my two brain cells (I'll
get _those_ back)).
