Eilis checked up on a memory using the Eastern OP and found
Baron Patri of Carolingia was knighted in AS Eight.  Therefore,
I think I got the belt story backwards.  Patri was wearing
a red belt, though he was a knight.  His retainer was wearing
a white belt, though he was NOT a knight.  The belts just
matched their respective clothes.
