"Ceremonial" in the same sense that the Crown of Ansteorra is ceremonial, and in the
sense used by the BoD during the Milpitas Meltdown of recent infamy. The
medieval/Renn functionaries as opposed to the administrative/legal representatives of
the organization known as the SCA.

Currently, as good acquaintances and friends of a close friend. (Hi, Your
Highnesses!)
In the future, when and as the Kingdom of Ansteorra becomes the host for dependent
Principalities, I'd expect those principates to be formed upon approximately the same
model as the parent kingdom with strong-sovereign definitions of the attendant powers
and responsibilities associated with the won-by-right-of-arms offices ("Atenveldt
heresy", often used to describe the way things work here in Ansteorra, as opposed to
"Western Rite" and "Eastern Rite"...).
But they don't have to be. As Galen of Bristol has noted previously, in various
iterations of discussions about creating principalities, one of the "neat things" is
that it is a whole new chance to create something which never before existed. While
the laws of a Principality are subject to review by their parent Kingdom (per
Corpora, I believe), they are still a new construct wherein many wonders can be
achieved -- and hilarious new mistakes perpetrated inadvertently..
And I expect a number of those to win their way to seats upon the Principality
thrones, however those boundaries may be drawn and whether or not I actually reside
within a given sub-structure, will also be acquaintances, friends, strangers, and
possibly even family or SCA household members. (My eldest biological son attains the
age of consent for SCA combat in just a few more years, although he currently dwells
in territory claimed by the East Kingdom, while at least one current Knight of
Ansteorra remains on the roster of House Dreamwind as an associate -- and I to the
best of my knowledge remain a member of a household closely associated with another,
although I've not played with them actively in some years...)
Or even myself. I'm slowly getting the armor in shape, and even more slowly myself...
Stefan, I hope I've made some sense of the confusion I inadvertently created.
