I am minded of a story told of Baron Patri, who for several
decades was Baron of Carolingia. There is a photo of him on
his baronial throne one Yule. He was wearing a white belt.
He is not a knight. It just went with his clothing.
Standing next to him was a famous knight. He was wearing a
red belt. It just went with his clothes.

Then again, Baron Patri had enough standing that he could
get away with such things, and had enough experience to know
what he could get away with. Don't Try This At Home.
McDaniel's Second Law: If you don't know whether you can get
away with breaking a rule, you probably can't.
