The duration of reigns is not set in Corpora. In fact,
the West has four-month reigns, and I suspect that other kingdoms
can have longer reigns if the current Crown abdicates with
a Crown Prince/ess already selected.
That said: having two-year reigns is a very bad idea.
Right now, one of the great quieting factors in re a sudden
attack of Royal Buttheadedness is "it's only 6 months".
The West finds great comfort in four -- officers can stall
anything for 4 months, no prob. (If it's actually a good
idea, the next crown may uphold it and the stalling fails.)
Second, a great comfort to contestants in Crown is "I can try
again in six months". As it is, there are rumors of rhino-hiding
and dishonor in various tourneys. Now imagine if failure
meant two years of waiting. If you're in your prime
for 10 years, you have 5 chances instead of 20.
Third, ask former monarchs (or landed baron/esses) about long
tenures. How many previously-active people drop out
for a while or for forever after serving as Crown?
You get whined at enough by mental children in six months.
I suspect most Crowns' replies to a two-year proposal
would be "Nooooooooo!".
