In the real world yes, short term leadership hardly ever works, but this
is not the real world. We are all volunteers and are bound together by
our love history, recreation, and each other. All your points are of
paying carreers. None of get paid in fact we pay to play and enhance our
playing buy spending money on garb, books, armor, library fines etc..
A longer tenor for any offfice especially the crown will not make
anything easier, I believe it will fact fewer people to actually want
the job. and yes being crown I would think would be a real job!
The real driving force behind the p word is not the length of the
crown's reign. In fact if the crown went to one event held by each group
they would be travelling every weekend for a minimum of two years and I
do no think any crown could take that. and yes that means no weekends
off. This is how big Ansteorra is!
Your modern examples all have regional directors. Isn't Prinicipality
Prince or Princess a regional head for the king and queen of the
kingdom. Your questions have to do with structure and the structure in
those organizations support a regional head to help supervise and
especially encourage the locals, beacuse the president of the company
like our crown cannot be everywhere at once. I do believe that a Prince
and princess could solve many problems.
The so called turnover rate is an excepted part of the job and the joy.
Extended the time of the joy can make the job harder and the joy less.
If you did increase the term every group in ansteorra would expect the
crown to attend one of their events during their reign. While this is a
wonderful idea it is not practical or financially sound as there will
always be major events that the king and queen must go to.

just a few thoughts
