ANST - Best Persona playing at events..

In Response to HE Octavia's question about some of the best persona
playing at events - a great thread that has been lost in the
discussion of possible principalities - I felt compelled to mention
Lyonesse two years ago. That was the year that a Japanese contingent
lead by Daffy-san was at attendance at the tournament.

Sir Daffydd playing a Japanese persona was brilliant, as was his
interpreter, Octavia, (sorry, I don't remember the name that she was
using at the event). Or those who weren't there, Daffy-san spoke no
English, so his interrupter followed him everywhere he went and
translated for him. She walked a few steps behind him and always spoke
discreetly, as befits a good interpreter.

The best part of Daffy-san's performance, however, was when he went
before the lady of his field and offered to kill himself for failing
to vanquish all of his foes in a melee. It was, as I said, brilliant!

later that evening, Kein, Alisha, myself and others visited
Daffy-san's pavilion, drank sake and had a wonderful time. Well, I
think that I had a good time. I was told that I had a good time. That
sake is really something. :)

I would say that was one of many fantastic instances of persona play
that I've seen in the SCA.
