I can answer some of your questions. For the field of the hawk, chosen
were Alredo and Gunnora. Also chosen both for the field and champion was
Timo. Chosen from other fields were Kief, and a man named Brian Cameron
was was taking part in his first ever chivalric fighting event. I am
sorry I can't remember the rest right now--I am exhausted and have lost
about 20 IQ points.
The weather could not have been better if we had paid for it. Just cold
enough to make you appreciate coffee and it quickly warmed into the high
60's and stayed there. There was a freeze Saturday night and very heavy
frost Sunday morning, but I think nobody really cared.
Tales of things not combat related but neat: During the opening
procession, several people saw and heard three hawks battling overhead.
I had never seen the like in my life. From the way one later flew away
with many backward glances and the other two flew together, I belive it
was two young males fighting over hawk unmentionables. Young males are
pretty much the same in every species.
Tales of something bizarre: Ibrahim, Bjornsborg's chronicler, found out
just before the tourney that the SCA's official records list him (the
real him) as having been dead for 8 months. So he got put on a bier next
to the list field and there he lay with silver coins over his eyes. The
gypsies later did a resurrection ceremony so he could fight, but of
course he couldn't be picked for any kind of official recognition because
zombies aren't eligible.

And let the sky grow dark.
The nock to the cord, the shaft to the ear,
And a foreign king for a mark!
