/The fanged one scrawls:
/
/>>>>"it would be more appropriate to express your paganness through other
/organizations"
/
/take a step back and look at that sentence and what it convey's to a
/new-comer looking for a place in the SCA. <<<<

/Very true! The SCA is much more friendly to Pagans that phrase would suggest. It also does, however, have a few people who are more than slightly intolorant regarding "alternative" religions. (Although a whole LOT less then the "mundane" world)
/
/ >>>>if there is room for christians / moslems / buddhists / ... to
/explore the historical side of their nature, there is plenty of room
/.. in fact there *must* be room for the pagan types to do the same<<<<
/
/Indeed! However (not to put words in the very-capable-of-expressing-her-own- o
/pinion Lorraine's mouth), although many of us are pagan, the SCA is not a Pagan
/ organization, and if she's looking primarily for Pagan contacts, she should lo
/ok at any number of organizations/ festivals that focus on that aspect...There
/'s a big difference between someone who happens to be pagan and is interested i
/n recreating history, and someone who is Pagan and interested in pagan contacts
/. The first would fit in and have a great time. The second would be sorely
/disappointed

Tuhtahl has better expressed my feelings than I was able to at that moment.

I never meant to suggest that people who practice pagan religions mundanely
were not welcome, (I'd have to throw myself out) I have just seen many people
come into the SCA because it was the only format they could be pagan in without
conflit and then never understand or want to understand what was going on. It
seems that if this was the case they would be much better served by attending
festivals put on by various Pagan organizations.
