     Greetings, all.

I thought I might add a bit to the discussion. I arrived from
Atlantia a little less than a year ago. Atlantia hosts an annual
Unevent (guarded kingdom date on the second weekend of September).
The schedule for Unevent incorporates most of the suggestions posted
     by Her Excellency Berengaria.

A typical schedule might look like the following:

                Room A Room B Room C

     0900 Seneschal Chronicler Laurel
     1000 Treasurer Knight Marshal Pelican
     1100 A&S Minister Herald Chivalry

                                <Lunch>

     1330 Chirurgeon Centurions White Scarves
1430 Hospitaller Iris of Merit Landed Baronage
1530 Rapier Marshal Star of Merit Minister of Children

Unevent has no fee--Kingdom picks up the tab. Normally, the site is a
college, church, or governmental center with a central lobby (for
general hanging out) and eateries in the near vicinity. Some of the
sponsoring groups hosted a low-cost lunch but that varied depending on
the site. Depending on the site and group, there were also revels or
     post-revels.

Unevent is done in garb on Saturday; Curia Regis is held in mundanes
on Sunday. Curia in Atlantia is a pure business meeting (held once a
reign) to discuss Kingdom law, etc., and is composed of the King,
Queen, Prince, Princess, (Territorial Coronets and Heirs, if they ever
get any), Great Officers of State, Barons, Baronesses, and Seneschals.
Persons are free to attend but may not speak unless specifically
     recognized by the Crown.

Unevent is pretty much an all-day business meeting for the officers.
After having attended several (and scuttling back and forth to gather
information for the local officers that couldn't make it), I didn't
tend to view it as an event so much as a part of the job. The name
pretty much sums it up. However, you do manage to get a LOT of
     business done in one day.

Of course, the schedule doesn't take into account interkingdom
anthropology. The counterparts of the Centurions, Irises, and Stars,
are polling orders in Atlantia, which I don't believe they are in
     Ansteorra.

At any rate, I hope this helps. I am a great proponent of Unevent.
It works well--and tends to cut down on the meetings throughout the
year. They don't go away but they seem to lighten up a bit.

According to the household matriarch, Unevent was conceived at one
particular Kingdom 12th Night: "We arrived in the morning, scuttled
off to the first meeting, and stayed there until it was time for
court, which was followed by more meetings until it was time to eat
dinner. Oh, they let us out a couple of times for toilet breaks--
usually when the assembled faces were shifting--and they brought us
lunch. Being Queen managed to take all the fun out of 12th Night."
As you say, that's her story and she's sticking to it.

     Regards,
     Tadhg
