AOA and GOA are shorthand for Award of Arms and Grant of Arms. These are
different award levels in the SCA. An Award of Arms is the basic, first
level of award. While varying from kingdom to kingdom, this in the level
that lets you display a coat of arms. The proper address for someone with
this title is Lord or Lady. But lord or lady (in smaller case) will work
for most folks no matter what rank they have.
The highest level of awards are the peerages. The Grant of Arms, in this
kingdom, is just below these.
