The idea of boffers was brought up a few years ago in the local barony by some
lurkers who wanted to fight, but not shell for the armor.  It was explained in
the meeting as such by, either the Baron + Baroness, or maybe it was HG
Michael.  In Kingdom Law, there is no designation between a boffer and a
"real(read fighting)" sword.  Just as there is no difference between (sometimes
literally none) a boffer and "real" mace.  Thus, by current kingdom law, they
for all intents and purposes are "real" weapons.
    I personally think a beginner fighting would be good.  Boffer, Shanai, etc.
It would allow a youth to practice skills relatively safely.
