I stand corrected!  For some reason I had the notion that all the Peerages were
required to swear fealty..........don't know why.  I guess I agree with you all in that
the nobility not be separated by the peerages.......it'll be interesting to hear how
others feel about it.  I tend to agree with you on the period usage of titles.  It was
very confusing to me when I first began to play SCA, since I too had the historical
usage in my mind.
