While each and every award is assigned a specific number for the 
record, the only practical use I've seen for this is that it helps us 
all line up correctly for marches of precedence.  My generalization 
of all grants ranking the same was a bit of oversimplification on my 
part due to the fact that our award system is confusing enough to new 
people.  

The bottom line is a grant is a grant is a grant.   Court Baronies 
confer the grant and Nobility (most nobles will tell you "that and 
$1.25 will get you a cup of coffee").  While I understand the 
College of Heralds need to assign "official" rankings, the numbers 
really don't matter to most people.
