Greetings Karl,

You raise some interesting points, some of which will probably be
considered radical. Maybe people will think about some of them.
You sound passionate in your views, the people replying sound equally
passionate. Is this bad?

A lot of what you say is true. There is "politics", insincerity,
bad-biting, ad nauseum. It's easy to sit back and say "Hey, it happens."
It's also easy to point fingers. It's the middle that's the hardest.
What are you going to do about it? Suggesting alternatives that have no
hope of working, doesn't help. Yes, sometimes we need wakeup calls.

Maybe it is pretty ugly, maybe not. Isn't the chivalry, the honor, and
courtesy worth at least trying? Yes, the society started out as a party,
but it has become much more than that. It's called growth.

There was something I was unclear about. Do you support historical
accuracy or are you against it? If you're against it, then to take the
history out of the society would leave you without the society. It's the
historical, that makes the society. And yes, there are many
inconsistances, but again, do you throw out the baby with the bathwater?

If you are for historical accuracy, then why suggest the "honorary
knighthoods" like McCartney and Elton John since those knighthoods are a
relatively modern accolade?

You want to have some fun, try making it to Graywood's Battle of the Pines
in October. Shameless plug. :)

PS. Mario Andretti doesn't
have to re-qualify every year
for the Indy. Only his car does.
